Simon Wanjiru is the founder and director of Bold Impact Africa, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable livelihoods in agriculture, education, health, and advocacy. As a Mandela Washington Fellowship alumnus from the 2021 cohort in civic engagement at Kansas State University's Staley School of Leadership Studies and the 2024 Alumni Engagement Innovation Funds awardee. Simon’s commitment as a community change agent is highlighted by his 2023 MWF award-winning project under the leveraging innovations in new communities (LINC) grant. In this capacity, he spearheaded initiatives in Maputo, Mozambique, strengthening the resilience and capabilities of persons with disabilities in agriculture, food advocacy, and digital marketing. With over eight years of expertise in agro-ecological training, with a key focus in arid, semi-arid, and marginalized rural regions of Kenya and Mozambique, Simon has focused on empowering women, youth, and persons with disabilities. His all-inclusive understanding and proficiency in promoting sustainable, climate-smart agriculture have enabled him to collaborate with organizations fostering agricultural sustainability in California and New York, as well as with the USAID initiatives in Kenya.
